How to price Reiki sessions
Estimate a sustainable planning price using your costs, capacity, and owner-pay goal, then test the assumptions.

A price has to work with your capacity
Start with the number of sessions you can realistically offer after administration and time off. Then estimate the share of slots that may be booked and the share that will complete and be paid. A calendar with twenty available slots does not mean twenty paid sessions every week.
Separate the costs
Fixed costs continue even when no session occurs: a regular room commitment, software, insurance, or business administration. Variable costs arise per session, such as supplies or a per-appointment room fee. Payment fees may contain both a percentage and a fixed amount. Keep owner pay separate so you can see whether the business covers expenses but leaves little compensation for your work.
Calculate a planning floor
The session pricing calculator divides annual fixed costs, desired owner pay, and a chosen reserve by expected paid sessions, adds variable costs, and adjusts for payment fees. Its default fictional scenario produces about $103.05 per session, rounded up to a $104 planning price. That number is a demonstration of the formula, not a recommendation about what Reiki should cost in your area.
Test the uncertain inputs
Lower the occupancy assumption and see what changes. Reduce working weeks to include time off. Add the administrative cost you initially forgot. If a small change makes the price impractical, the plan may need lower fixed costs, more realistic capacity, a different offer, or a smaller owner-pay target during startup. Do not make the spreadsheet look viable by assuming every slot will sell.
Compare with actual customer decisions
A cost-based price tells you what the plan needs; it does not prove that customers will buy. Research comparable services carefully, including duration and inclusions, and learn from real inquiries. Avoid claiming a universal market rate from a few advertised prices. Track what people purchase and the time it takes to deliver.
Make the published offer clear
State session duration, total price, what is included, payment timing, and where cancellation terms can be read before purchase. If you offer a package, show its total and effective per-session price. Never imply that a larger package is medically necessary or that a higher price guarantees an outcome.
Review the result
Use the monthly business review to compare assumed versus actual paid sessions and costs. Update the service menu deliberately; preserve terms already agreed with existing bookings. Start with the free calculator and menu template. The optional Business Kit adds a saved workbook for testing several scenarios.
