Start with a service you can describe clearly

Write down what an appointment includes, how long it lasts, where it happens, and who it is for. Use a factual description of the experience. Avoid promises to diagnose, treat, or cure a condition. If you also hold a regulated professional qualification, keep the responsibilities of that service distinct rather than assuming one label covers everything.

Check the requirements for your actual location

Business registration, taxes, premises permissions, insurance, and rules about the services you provide can depend on your location and activities. Begin with the relevant small-business and local authority resources, then record the answer, source, and date in the startup checklist. A training certificate or downloadable form is not proof that every requirement has been met. [S33]

Build a small financial plan

List startup costs, monthly fixed costs, and the costs that arise each time you provide a session. Decide how much appointment capacity remains after administration, breaks, and time off. Use the session pricing calculator to test a price against those assumptions. Then use the break-even calculator to see how many completed paid sessions would be needed. A workable calculation does not establish customer demand.

Prepare the client journey

Choose one booking method, one payment process, and one clear contact channel. Write a service menu and welcome message. Adapt the intake and preferences worksheets to the service, keeping unnecessary health information out of a general business form. Decide where records will be stored, who can access them, and how requests or corrections will be handled.

Choose software after the workflow

A small practice may need basic appointments and payments; another may need a broader client-administration system. List must-have features and test the exact plan with fictional information. Consider total cost, export, access controls, and cancellation as well as the first month's price. A tool that pays us a commission is not automatically the right choice.

Rehearse before accepting real bookings

Walk through a booking on a phone, a confirmation, a changed appointment, a payment failure, and a receipt. Check that the prices, time zones, forms, and policies match. Ask someone unfamiliar with the process to explain what they think they are buying. Fix any confusion before opening the calendar.

Launch, observe, and revise

Begin with manageable capacity and review actual activity each month. Record what people ask about, how much administration takes, and whether cash covers the commitments you have made. Use the business plan as a working document. The next step is to download the free business plan and startup checklist; the optional Business Kit adds editable workbooks and operating procedures.
